The Load Master is an integral part of the Karratha based Port Operations Team, including marine pilots and load masters.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
conducting load mastering at each of the Woodside Terminals
responsible for acting as Terminal Representative, ensuring that the tanker is loaded in compliance with Port Operational procedures, providing an emergency response focal point, and addressing and tracking loading incidents
responsible for identifying and initiating the correction of cargo handling faults
responsible for providing the required “Agency Position” to enable tankers to operate effectively
responsible for ensuring that each Condensate/LPG tanker is inspected and meets Terminal requirements
responsible for ensuring customer needs and business objectives are met through continuos review of overall work programs and support of other Load Masters in the execution of their individual responsibilities for each vessel loading
keeping navigational watches on FPSOs, during the times when FPSOs are “off the riser” (allocation offshore for brief periods of time may be required)

Qualifications, skills and experience:
•          a valid Australian Master Class 1 ticket
•          extensive experience in the shipment of hydrocarbon cargoes including liquefied gas cargoes
•           highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
•          familiarity with the cargo transfer systems on oil and liquefied gas tankers and jetties
•          high level of safety culture

The position reports to the Port operations Team Leader in Karratha and is a fly in fly out position, four week duty cycles, equal time.
